Keeping touch with our patients and partners

e Newsletter - Winter 2011 edition

A recent media article on preparing the garden for the winter, focused on preventing injury and damage to the roots of our much cherished plants.

Happy in the knowledge that we have worked hard to protect our garden, do we then pay the same amount of attention to preparing ourselves for the winter months as the cold nights draw in?

Maybe our winter ‘to do’ lists should have an added entry of:

    1. ‘plan my winter exercise regime’     or

    2. ‘visit The Physiotherapy Centre for an MOT’

Don’t suffer through self neglect this winter,
Call The Physiotherapy Centre for an MOT now

Prepare yourself….Just like your Garden!!!

Tips for Winter text runners:

  • Take notice of the weather forecast !
  • Do not plan to increase mileage or add speed work in extreme cold or slippery conditions.
  • Run on snow rather than ice for better
traction and shorten your running stride.
  • Dress warmly, especially covering your head and hands. Get advice on specialist winter running clothing and footwear.
  • Make sure your running shoes are large
    enough to accommodate thicker socks
    and prevent circulatory problems.
  • Extreme cold and wind chill can be
    dangerously dehydrating, ensure you
    continue to hydrate adequately.
  • Use moisturiser and sun block to prevent
soreness and redness on exposed areas of the face.
